Monsal also recognizes that its key resource is its people. Therefore, the wellbeing of Monsal's staff and their contribution to achieving the company's objectives are vital to Monsal's success. In 2008, Monsal became:

In her recommendation that Monsal be recognised as an Investor in People, the assessor said:

"This company could be a regional good practice guide for other organisations, in terms of how they organise and document their people processes and continually review and update their practices."

To ensure these are more than certificates on the wall, in 2002 Monsal developed an Integrated Management System, which incorporates these values into its daily work. This system, is called MBOS - which stands for: Monsal's Business Operating System.

MBOS covers all standard business activities within Monsal - from Business Development to Customer Handover & Warranty, and 'back office' functions, including finance, HR, admin and IT. The key benefits of MBOS include capturing best practice and standardising key procedures across the company. It's an excellent tool for new staff, and for staff progressing within the company. Elements of MBOS are shared with Monsal's suppliers, to transfer best practice knowledge and encourage consistency of systems and paperwork between us.

Monsal's Business Operating System is continuously improved by the people at Monsal. Requirements to meet the rigorous accreditation demands have been incorporated into the system, which ensures Monsal meets these demands continually - and not just in preparation for an audit. In fact, Monsal choose to be audited on its Quality Assurance, Health & Safety and Environmental accreditation every 6 months.
